The Society of Family Planning awards Changemakers in Family Planning grants to respond to institutionalized racism in the field of family planning by providing dedicated support for scholars of color to expand research skills and expertise. This year, CPHLR Law and Policy Analyst Cydney Murray has been selected as a Changemaker! We couldn't be more proud and excited for her to receive this honor and to further her research.
June 24, 2023, marks one year since the US Supreme Court upended the limited constitutional protection of abortion afforded by Roe v. Wade. Now, the legal status of abortion varies even more drastically across the nation, compromising equitable access to this essential health care. While some states have moved to ban abortion outright, others have enacted measures attempting to protect and expand access.
Today’s National Public Health Week focus is on reproductive and sexual health. At CPHLR, much of our work has focused on understanding the extent and impact of statutes, regulations, and case law related to reproductive rights, like access to abortion and contraception.
