Senior Law and Policy Analyst
DeAnna Baumle is a Senior Law and Policy Analyst at the Center for Public Health Law Research. She is responsible for creating and maintaining complex legal epidemiology datasets across a variety of public health topics. Her work centers on intersecting issues of health and equity, including research focused on reproductive justice, drug decriminalization, workers’ rights, and housing and economic justice.
Prior to joining the Center, DeAnna was a law clerk at the Staff Attorney’s Office in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. In that role, she worked on pro se appeals and substantive motions involving a wide range of legal issues, including constitutional law, employment discrimination, habeas corpus, and prison conditions. While in law school, her studies focused on human rights and social justice, and she interned with and volunteered for Proyecto Dilley, the ACLU, the Leitner Center for International Law and Justice, the National Institute for Reproductive Health, and Day One.
DeAnna received her JD from Fordham Law School, where she was a member of the Stein Scholars Program for the Public Interest. She also holds an MSW in Community-Based Practice and Leadership from Fordham University’s Graduate School of Social Service and a BA in English and Psychology from Boston University. She is licensed to practice law in New York.
